Iowa Individual Disaster Assistance Grant No Longer Available

  • Polk, Jasper, and Boone counties have been approved for federal assistance through FEMA. This means that the Iowa Individual Disaster Assistance Grant will no longer be available in those counties.

  • You can apply for FEMA assistance by calling 800-621-3362 or you can apply online at disasterassistance.gov.

  • We will still be providing Disaster Case Management to assist families with the creation of a disaster recovery plan. More information will be available as soon as possible.

Food

  • D-SNAP events are available for Boone, Jasper, and Polk County residents. Eligible applicants must meet the income guidelines and must have experienced food loss due to the derecho. More information about the event can be found here.

    • Current food assistance recipients are not eligible for the D-SNAP assistance as they will already receive the maximum allotment of Food Assistance benefits for their household size in August and September.

  • SNAP, EBT, and Food Stamp recipients can apply for additional food due to spoilage, applications are being accepted through September 17, 2020.   For more information visit https://dhs.iowa.gov/disaster-assistance-programs
